Can I make a payment by phone?

Currently, CHIF does not have the pay-by-phone service available. We accept payment by personal check or money order. You may mail your check or money order or you may drop your payment off at our office at 121 Tremont Street, Hartford.

Where do I send my monthly payment?

Please remit payment to: CHIF, PO Box 844553, Boston, MA 02284-4553

Where do I send the final payment to pay off my loan?

Can I have my monthly payment amount automatically withdrawn from my checking account and applied to my loan?

Yes. For your convenience, CHIF offers an Automatic Payment Drafting service. Automatic drafting is an easy, hassle-free way to handle your monthly loan payments.

I recently closed on my mortgage. When will I receive my coupon book?

You will be notified in writing as soon as we have received all closing documents from your attorney or mortgage company. CHIF will send you a “Welcome” letter with a temporary payment coupon. Within 30 days of receiving the “Welcome” letter, you will receive your coupon book. If you do not receive your coupon book within 30 days, you may call 1-800-992-3665 and a customer service representative will be happy to help you.

What if my coupon book is lost or misplaced?

If your coupon book is lost or misplaced, you may request another coupon book by calling (800) 992-3665. A fee of $10.00 will be charged for replacement.

I am out of coupons and have not received the next book, does this mean my account is paid off?

No, but if you are not sure of the status of you loan, we encourage you to call a customer service representative at (800) 992-3665 for current information.

Can I look at my account balance on-line?

You can access your account by going to mychifaccount.org. For answers to more questions about web access, please see our web access faq.

When my loan is paid in full, when will I receive my release?

After you pay a loan in full, CHIF will mail you a release in approximately 40 to 60 days.

Does my monthly payment include escrow?

A portion of your monthly payment may be held in an escrow account for the purpose of paying taxes and/or insurance on your property. An escrow account is usually established by the first mortgage holder and you can check the statement you receive on your first mortgage to see if an amount of your payment is designated for the escrow account. If you are not sure if the monthly payment you send to CHIF includes escrow, you may call a customer service representative at (800) 992-3665 for information.
